About Deb Seymour

Deb Seymour wrote her first song at age ten and played her first public show at eighteen at Boulder, Colorado’s Brillig Works Tea Room, after working up the courage at its open mics.

Since then, she has recorded five albums of original music and spent many years touring, performing  coffeeshops, listening rooms, concert venues, folk festival and street buskin. Her own songs run the gamut from hitch-hiking chickens and tango-dancing Martians to songs of resilience , love, and choosing hope over despair in dark times. Find her music here.

Deb has taught songwriting  at guitar camps, folk festivals, songwriting retreats, and workshops for years, along with classes in rhythms, performance and stagecraft, melody writing, live streaming basics, overcoming stage fright and more. She has also mentored musicians on everything from finding gigs and building mailing lists to publicity, promotion house concerts, and the practical nuts and bolts of making a life in music.

Deb’s approach is practical, playful, and encouraging. She believes there is no single “right” way to write a song, and her job is to help you discover what works for you. She has also made plenty of mistakes along the way, so you don’t have to make quite as many of them yourself. Most of all, Deb is a songwriter’s cheerleader. Whether you’re writing your very first song or your five-hundredth, you are welcome here!
